Manchester United players:

English Premiership League giant, Manchester United will honour its Nigerian fans who were electrocuted to death while watching the team’s Europa League match against Anderlecht in the city of Calabar about two weeks ago.

The club announced on its twitter handle that the players would wear black armbands in honour of the people that were killed that night in their next premiership match on Sunday.

“The #MUFC players will wear black armbands on Sunday in memory of the seven fans who lost their lives recently in Calabar, Nigeria,” the Club popularly called the Red Devils said on its twitter handle.

Police said seven people were killed when a live wire fell on the viewing centre where scores of football fans were watching the Europa League match while many others were injured.

Manchester United won the game 2-1 to advance to the semi-final of the Europa League, where they will play Spanish side Celta Vigo.
