The Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC has recalled its Rivers State Sector Commander and other officers involved in the cutting of hair of some female employees of the Commission in Port Harcourt yesterday.

Photographs of the Rivers State Sector Commander, identified as Andrew A. Kumapayi, and his other officers cutting off the braided long hair of the female employees with a pair of scissors have been trending in the social media since Monday evening.

The incident was said to have occurred while the Sector Commander and his officers were carrying out a general inspection on the staff at the FRSC headquarters in Port Harcourt.

The inspection involves examination of the uniform, finger nails, as well as the hairdos of FRSC personnel.

But the FRSC Commander had embarked on cutting off of long hair of some of the female officers for allegedly not being in tune with the Corps guidelines on the appearance of its officers during the inspection.

In his initial reaction, FRSC Corps Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi, had condemned the Sector Commanders action, which he said went beyond the mandate of the Commission.

Bisi Kazeem, spokesman for the Corps told journalists on Tuesday morning that the Corp Marshall has ordered the recall of Kumapayi for further investigations.  He also promised that appropriate disciplinary action will be taken against officers indicated in the hair cutting scandal after the investigations.
