Niger Deltans have been jubilating heavily when the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, directed the International Oil Companies operating in the Niger-Delta region to relocate their headquarters to their States of operation. This is to enable the host communities to have a sense of belonging.

He said this at a Town Hall meeting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital on Thursday. It was during the continuation of his visit to the region to make peace. He told the Minister of State, Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu to begin the process of engaging the International Oil Companies on how to bring this to reality, saying “I think it is the right thing to do”.

Osinbajo added that, the Ministry of Petroleum is also working with major oil companies to work on illegal refineries “to establish modular refineries to achieve the desired result.”
