Man, 22, arraigned for theft

A 22-year-old man, Adeoti Oluwasegun, who allegedly burgled the shop of one Bamidele Oluwafemi and stole electronics worth N42, 000, on Friday appeared ‎before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court, Ekiti.

The accused, whose address was not given, is facing a two count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Oriyomi Akinwale told the court that the accused committed the offences on Feb. 28, at No 47, Dallimore St., Ado-Ekiti‎.

‎He alleged that the accused stole the complainant’s plasma television valued N38, 000, a Samsung DVD player valued N4, 000 and N20, 000 cash.

“The accused was caught by some security guards, who handed him over to the police,’’ Akinwale said.

The offences contravened Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Cap C16 Vol. 1, Laws of Ekiti State‎, 2012.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Counsel to the accused, Mr Timi Omotosho, urged the court to grant his client bail on liberal terms.

The Magistrate, Mrs Taiwo Ajibade, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000, with two sureties in like sum.

She said that the sureties must reside within the jurisdiction of the court.

Ajibade adjourned the case till March 21, for mention. (NAN)
