Police arrest ‘kidnapper’ of Lagos estate secretary

Omoni: the alleged kidnapper of Isheri Estate Secretary

The Nigeria Police Force said it had arrested Joseph Omoni, 38, who allegedly kidnapped the secretary of the Isheri North estate landlord association.

A statement issued by the Force Spokesman, CSP Jimoh Moshood, said that the arrest was as a result of a follow up by the Inspector-General of Police’s Intelligence Response Team (IRT) in synergy with Technical Intelligence Unit (TIU).

He said that Omoni is a native of Ajagba community, Ese Odo Local Government Area of Ondo state.

He said the suspect, who volunteered confessional statement on the level of his involvement in the crime, was currently in Police custody.

Moshood said suspect confessed further to the kidnap and assassination attack on Ikorodu mile 12 road on Dec. 19, where Aisha Ali Balogun and one other were killed.

“He also admitted to have participated actively as a gang member in the kidnap of Turkish School children and members of the staff in Ogun State recently,”he said.

The spokesman said two  houses built from the ransom money by the suspect and one other gang member Aka Chairman have been identified and sealed off by the Police at Century Village Ogijo in Ogun State.

He said Investigation is being intensified to arrest the remaining members of the gang who are still at large.

Moshood said the suspect would be arraigned in court on completion of the investigation.( NAN)
