The Federal Commissioner of National Population Commission, NPC, Dr Eyitayo Oyetunji has called for the support and collaboration of stakeholders as the commission commences the third phase of the Enumeration Area Demarcation, EAD, exercise in Olorunsogo Local Government Area of Oke Ogun axis.

Oyetunji who made this call at Igbeti Area of the state during a press briefing said that the exercise is scheduled to commence on February 20 and end in March 10.

According to Oyetunji, the EAD constituted the foundation on which the entire census architecture stands adding, “In order to effectively enumerate all persons resident in the country, there is need to divide the whole land mass of the country into small units. This will allow for easy coverage by a team of enumerators during the census enumeration coming up in 2018”.

He added that the commission has adopted a meticulous and gradual approach to the 2018 census EAD that allows for practical experimentation of the methodology and necessary adjustment in implementation and flexibility emphasising that the significance of the EAD exercise was beyond the conduct of the 2018 census.

Oyetunji who solicited for the support of the local government, traditional institutions and the communities where the exercise would take place said that the commission planned to establish and maintain a national frame, which included locality list and house numbering for future censuses and surveys in line with its mandate.

Responding, the state Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi who was represented by the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Mr Bimbo Kolade assured the commission of the state government support for the exercise.
