The court has spoken!

A Kano Magistrates’ Court on Monday sentenced Musa Aminu and four others to one year imprisonment each for unlawful assembly and possession of hard drugs.

The convicts were charged with joining unlawful assembly, armed with deadly weapon, possession of dried leaves suspected to be indian hemp and substance suspected to be intoxicant.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Haziel Ledafowa, told the court that the convicts committed the offence on Jan. 23.
Ledafowa said that a team of policemen attached to Anti Daba Unit, carried out raid in a criminal hide out and black spots within Kano Metropolitan, where the convicts were arrested.
The prosecutor said Aminu and 15 others were found in possession of hard drugs and some dried leaves, suspected to be indian hemp.
“The convicts were also found in possession of knives, cutlasses and sticks, which they use in disturbing members of the Public”
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that out of the 16 accused persons, only five pleaded guilty while the 11 others pleaded not guilty.
In his summary judgment, Senior Magistrate Hassan Ahmad, sentenced the five convicts to one year imprisonment or pay a fine of N20,000 each.
Ahmad remanded 11 other accused persons in prison, and adjourned the case till March. 20 for further mention.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened sections 103 and 404 of the Penal Code.
