Abdulkadir-Kure

The Sen. Ahmed Makarfi-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described late governor Abdulkadir Kure of Niger as one of the leaders committed to the rebuilding the party.

The factional PDP National Publicity Secretary, Mr Dayo Adeyeye, said this in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Abuja.

NAN reports that Kure, 60, died on Sunday in a German hospital, as confirmed by Mr Tanko Beji, Chairman, PDP, Niger.

The spokesman said that the deceased was one of the leaders the party relied on in resolving its lingering leadership crisis.

Adeyeye said that the by the status of the deceased, his death was a very sad one not just to his family, to his state and PDP, but to Nigeria as a whole.

He described late Kure as a very humble, warm, gentle interesting and religious man when he was alive.

“It is a sad death to us in PDP.

“He was a confidential administrator and a man of impeccable character.

“Late governor Kure was one of the leaders we relied to rebuild the party. He has so much concern about the party crisis and how to resolve it.

“He was one of those straight forward persons you can look forward to always, and took his stand.

“He was a great personality in the PDP. He was one of those who are committed and devoted to the success and progress of the party at all times.

“So for us, it is a sad death,” he said.

Adeyeye said that the contributions of the late former governor to the PDP and Nigeria would always be remembered.

The PDP image maker commiserated with the family of late Kure, the people and government of Niger, the PDP and Nigerians.

He prayed God to grant Kure’s family members the fortitude to bear the great loss.

Kure was governor of Niger from 29 May 1999 to May 29, 2007.

He was an active member of the then ruling PDP. (NAN)
