Dangote: Chairman, Dangote Group of Companies

The renowned business conglomerate, Dangote group of companies has revealed that its operation “In – House” cleansing has yielded tremendous results. The exercise is the initiative of its national patrol unit to rid the company of illicit and illegal activities perpetrated by its drivers.

The coordinator of Dangote group National Patrol Unit, CP Abdullahi Mogaji (rtd) stated this Tuesday at the Obajana plant in Kogi state. He disclosed that the operation which started in August has to a large extent brought sanity into the way the company’s drivers operate in and outside the company.

According to him, “The unit has so far arrested 244 suspects, these include drivers, owners of illegal haulage and those found stealing company’s properties. Out of the 244 suspects arrested, 109 have been convicted and jailed for various mentioned offenses while others are being remanded in prison custody pending the determination of their cases”.

Mogaji said the rampant cases of theft of company’s products and properties had raised a lot of concern to the companies President, Aliko Dangote who directed the unit to also curtail the nefarious activities.

“Within two weeks of the commencement of this work, we have arrested and recovered five trucks that were stolen all fully loaded with company products. Unfortunately, all the products have been stolen but the trucks were recovered.”

He revealed that a dismissed staff of the company transport section in Ibese was apprehended as the ring leader of the syndicate responsible for the stealing of the company trucks in the South South and south eastern part of the country.

Mogaji who assured that illegal haulage and other negative activities associated with the companies though their drivers will soon be a thing of the past, however appealed to the general public not to engage their drivers in illegal activities as they too will be prosecuted.

While calling on law enforcement agencies to support the effort of the company by arresting company drivers who break the laws, he urged the public to help alert the company wherever their customised “DO AND DI” trucks tyres are found in the market.
