Nigerian hip hop sensation, Ayo Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid has emerged winner of Best African Act category at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2016.

 

Wizkid beats other African music heavyweights like Olamide, Alikiba, Cassper Nyovest and Black Coffee to win the award.

 

The award ceremony takes place in Ahoy Rotterdam Rotterdam in Rotterdam, Netherlands, this evening.

 

The announcement of the Nigerian hip hop sensation who last week won Best African Act at the MOBO Awards  was done through the MTV Base Africa twitter page ahead of the show.

 

“It is wonderful to see African artists nominated at the 2016 MTV EMAs on the same platform as global superstars of the calibre of Rihanna, Beyoncé, Drake, Kanye West and more,”  Alex Okosi, Senior Vice President & Managing Director, Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Africa, said  in a statement.
