Kuje, one of the Area Councils in the Federal Capital Territory is made up of about 162 communities widely spread over a land mass of over 1,800 square kilometres.  2006 population census put the number of residents at 420,000, though the population may be far higher due to development of new settlements, estates and influx of people from other parts of Abuja.

The Area Council had six years ago embarked on building of a stadium to take care of the recreational and sporting needs of the growing number of residents. Six years after, the stadium is yet to be completed.

Perhaps, in tune with the popular saying that nature abhors vacuum, the Stadium is now playing host to huge pile of refuse dumped at fence by residents by Femi Ipaye
