A kid ISIS militant

Terrorist group, Islamic State, ISIS has described a 17-year-old Afghan asylum seeker who launched unprovoked attacks using an axe onboard a German commuter train on Tuesday as its “fighter”.

The claim was made by a news agency affiliated with the group.

A German official was also reported to have said a hand-painted flag the group was discovered in the room of the 17 year old when it was searched.

Agencies quoted Bavarian officials and local news accounts as saying  the incident occurred after 9 p.m. local time on Monday on a commuter line that runs from Treuchtlingen to Würzburg in Bavaria province.

 The youth hacked and slashed at some of the train’s 20 passengers, according to the reports.

Reuters reported that three of the victims sustained serious injuries before the assailant fled from the train and was confronted by police officers in the southern German province of Bavaria.

Two of the victims of the attack remained in serious condition on Tuesday.

 The teen “is one of the fighters of the Islamic State and the fighter answered calls to target countries of the coalition that is fighting the Islamic State,” the group’s Amaq news agency said.

Eyewitnesses said the teenager shouted “Allahu Akbar” during the attack, a phrase common in Islamist-inspired terrorist attacks.

But German authorities said additional investigation was needed to determine the motivation, according to Reuters.

The suspect, Afghanistan national, was said to arrive in Germany as an unaccompanied refu­gee, lived in a group home for underage refugees in Bavaria, before moving in with a foster family in a suburb of Würzburg two weeks ago.
