Manchester United players: another bad night

Manchester City and incoming coach, Pep Guardiola owe West Ham players a trailer of champagne for doing them a great favour in ensuring that they prevented Manchester United in toppling City out of the top four and a place in the UEFA Champions league next season.

United thought they had the ticket in the bag after Anthony Martial completed a brace by shooting them ahead in the 72nd minute, making the scoreline 2-1.The United bench exploded in joy.

But the joy turned into despair four minutes later when Michael Antonio headed in an equaliser for West Ham.

And they were not done for the night. FIVE minutes after, Winston Reid headed in another goal that completely caught keeper De Gea helpless. SCORELINE: West Ham 3, United 2.

The damage was complete. United were unable to make any amends.

Unless Manchester City lost their last game of the season, United appear condemned to another season in Europa League.

They would be joined by West Ham in the league as well.

Tuesday’s match was West Ham United’s final match at the Boleyn Ground, as they move to the Olympic Stadium next season.

And what a fitting farewell.
