John Terry : excited for rescuing Chelsea

Chelsea’s captain John Terry was both a villain and hero in the team’s hard fought  3-3 draw against visiting Everton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

After a goalless first half, play resumed with Terry at the 50th minute sliding an Everton low ball  into his own net with visiting forwards lurking behind him. Six minutes after, Kevin Mirallas compounded the hosts woes by scoring another goal for Everton.

With Chelsea owner Abramovich  watching proceedings from the stands, Diego Costa clipped the deficit with a goal on 64th minute and and two minutes after, Cesc Fabregas  kept Chelsea level with the visitors.

But in the added time, Chelsea went down again after a cross from the right found two Everton players, one of whom Ramiro Funes Mori tapped the ball in to take Everton higher at 3-2.

But with a few minutes left of the extra time, the game was not over.

And Terry proved that  deep, deep, deep into stoppage time when he  popped up, in an arguably offside position  to rescue a point. Six goals in the second half. What a  thrilling stuff at Stamford Bridge  and  certainly a big relief for Chelsea fans.

“A lot of teams would’ve thrown the towel in at 2-0 down and the fight and the desire was something special. It was a tireless effort from the boys. All we can do is give anything. We don’t want to be in this position in the league. We want to get out of it,” said Terry at the end of the match.
