Breaking: Bomb explodes during Ramadan sermon in Jos

A bomb has exploded in Jos, Plateau state, central Nigeria, in the midst of a gathering of muslims listening to some sermons on Islam.

The ceremony called Tafsir was holding at the Yantaya area of the city, which had witnessed terrorists attacks in the past.

The number of casualties is not known yet.

The police later confirmed the bombing at the Tafsir event, in addition to another one at a restaurant in the city.

The Tafsir bomb appeared to have targeted a Muslim cleric who has disowned Boko Haram in the past, several sources said.

Plateau State police spokesman Emmanuel Abuh confirmed there had been two attacks in Jos but had no further details immediately.

A suicide bomber killed six people at a church in northeast Nigeria earlier on Sunday at the end of a week in which suspected Boko Haram insurgents killed more than 200 people.
