Buhari to proclaim 8th Assembly next Tuesday

President Muhammadu Buhari has written the Clerk of the National Assembly on his plan to proclaim the 8th National Assembly next week.

In the letter, President Buhari, who returned to Nigeria on Thursday after visits to Chad and Niger directed Salihu Maikasuwa, the clerk of the National Assembly to convene the new session on Tuesday, June 9, 2015.

Buhari’s party, All Progressives Congress, command majority in two chambers of the assembly.

But the party needs to forge a consensus among elected members before the two houses choose their leaders next week.
