The success recorded by the All Progressives Congress, APC, at the last presidential election in Nigeria has continued to attract members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in many parts of the country.

In Benue, for example, thousands of supporters and members of the PDP were led, recently, to the APC by hitherto strongmen of the PDP.

At an even held in Naka, the headquarters of Gwer-West Local Government Area of Benue State, the benue.com,ng reports that PDP chieftains including several former council chairmen and aides to Governor Gabriel Suswam dumped the party for the APC.

The former chairmen, according to the report, were Abaji, Godfrey Ichoghol, and Andrew Ayande while the aides to the Governor were Francis Nyibiam, a former Adviser to Governor Moses Adasu and now Senior Special Assistant to Governor Gabriel Suswam as well as his colleague, Anta Igbaato, alias Galadima.

The defectors were received by the governorship candidate of the APC, Dr. Samuel Ortom, and his entourage who had visited the area in continuation of their campaign.

An excited Chief Dr Ortom said he was happy that the people of the state were becoming alive to the wind of change that is taking over the entire country currently.

He further urged others to make up their minds and join the winning party while promising to provide critical infrastructure including good roads, portable water, electricity, and health care for the people.

Apart from this, he promised the residents free and compulsory primary and secondary education enshrined in the APC manifesto while promising to pay arrears of salaries and pensions and also tackle unemployment.
