Brown Ideye: denies leaving West Brom

Nigerian striker Brown Ideye has taken to Twitter to deny being offloaded by English clubside West Bromwich Albion to a Qatari clubside.

Record signing Ideye said it was false he was set to leave the club on transfer deadline day.

On Monday the Midlands club were reportedly looking to offload the Nigerian international, who has failed to make an impression since joining last summer for £10million from Ukrainian outfit Dynamo Kiev.

West Brom were linked with late deals for West Ham’s Carlton Cole and Liverpool’s Rickie Lambert and it is understood a deal to sell Ideye to Al Gharafa of Qatar for a fraction of the fee they paid had been agreed.

But Ideye, who has only scored twice – a tap-in from two yards against Hull and a deflection off the back of his head against Manchester City – since joining West Brom took to Twitter to question the speculation surrounding his future.

‘I’m still a West Bromwich Albion player, don’t know where that news about me leaving #wba came from,’ Ideye tweeted on Tuesday.

‘Have not started doing what i know how to do best,so i can just leave #wba like that,’ he added.
