TaskForce men and women: we are not thugs

The Men-In-Black, recruits under The Subsidy Re-investment Empowerment Programme (SURE-P)/ Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) Task Force on Friday said that it was not partisan and would not be used for thuggery.

At a press briefing in Lagos, the Director of Publicity of the FERMA, Mr Olawale Oyeboh, noted that the task force was established to control and maintain traffic on federal roads.

He was reacting to an allegation that the members of the task force were recently used as political thugs.
“We are a non-partisan organisation established to help empower Nigerian youths.

“The task force was created for empowerment and not for political purposes.

“We have more than 10, 000 graduates employed by this establishment, ” he said.

The official gave the assurance that members of the task force would remain patriotic, disciplined and committed to their duties to facilitate national development.

The Men-In-Black recently created a row in Lagos, after they flushed out men of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency, LASTMA on some Federal roads in Lagos State. Both the police and officials of the LASTMA questioned the legal authority the recruits were relying upon to control traffic.
