The father of a Ugandan toddler tortured by her nanny said Wednesday the family remained “traumatised” by the event, as sentencing was delayed for the maid.

The 22-year-old maid, Jolly Tumuhiirwe, pleaded guilty on Monday to torturing the toddler, a case that shocked the country after a graphic video of her abusing the girl was made public.

The maid, who faces up to 15 years in prison for the assault, had been due to be sentenced Wednesday, but the case was adjourned until December 16.

No reason was given for the delay.

“Our baby was tortured in a way that was unimaginable,” Eric Kamanzi, 32, the father of the 18-month old girl, told AFP outside court.

“As a family we are still traumatised, the baby is still traumatised.”

When asked if 15 years would be an appropriate sentence for Tumuhiirwe, Kamanzi said it was a matter for the justice system to decide.

“My main concern is my baby girl, who was brutally beaten,” he added.

The girl’s parents, who had installed a hidden camera to film when they were at work, were shocked to see the footage showing the maid violently hurling their daughter to the floor.

Tumuhiirwe is seen apparently trying to force feed the child, before slapping her hard.

After the girl vomits, the maid throws her facedown on to a hard floor.

She then kicks the child’s face and stomach before putting her entire weight on the girl’s back, and then drags her out of the room, apparently unconscious.

I wonder what happened to the nanny for her to end up in this situation. I have a 20 month old baby girl and this was hard for me to watch. The question I ended up with is how can this woman be helped while serving her sentence

THE NANNY SHOULD GET LIFE IN PRISON FOR THIS EVIL CRIME AGAINST A DEFENSELESS BABY.

The people of Uganda. Please sentence Maid, Jolly Tumuhiirwe to life imprisonment. She does not need forgiveness. As you can see the act was intentional and devilish. If the Court allow her to go scout free, she will commit another act that will be greater and unimaginable, and the whole world will blame the justice system and the Government of Uganda. A hint to the wise is sufficient.

THE NANNY SHOULD BE SENTENCED TO DEATH, SHE DESERVES NO OTHER SENTENCE LESS THAN THIS.

I WOULD HAVE KILLED THE NANNY IF IT WAS MY CHILD

like denzel washington says… forgiveness is between her and her god.
Natural justice demands she be hanged for her godamn cruelty.

I do believe in forgiveness but reprimanding is not a sin as well. There should be some sort of punishment for this nanny. It will definitely not be fair if she goes scot free! What if that little girl had died for goodness sake?? Plss justice should be done!!! Atleast to give peace to the family of the baby and the entire world in general.

  • MINISTER says:

GOD SHOULD FORGIVE THE NANNY AND I KNOW AFTER THE SENTENCE SHE WILL LEARN
