Manchester City’s poor run of form continued on Saturday as the Premier League champions came from behind twice through Sergio Agüero’s brace to earn a 2-2 draw at Queens Park Rangers.

In-form Charlie Austin had given QPR the lead midway through the first half but an equally in-form Agüero equalised for City just after the half-hour mark.

A Martin Demichelis own-goal 15 minutes to the end had second from bottom QPR on its way to an unlikely win but Agüero was on hand to snatch a share of the spoils with a second equaliser seven minutes from time.

Minutes before scoring, Austin had two efforts ruled out, heading in from an offside position at first before capitalising on a miskick from Joe Hart from the resultant freekick to score only to see that effort ruled out as well.

Yaya Toure went close in the early stages of the second half but QPR managed to get back in front through a Martin Demichelis own-goal off an Austin cross in 15 minutes to the end.

With second from bottom QPR on its way to an unlikely win, City came close to equalising through Agüero and substitute James Milner who were respectively denied by the goal-line clearances of Richard Dunne and Steven Caulker.

Toure was also denied by goalkeeper Rob Green but Agüero was on hand to round Green and snatch a share of the spoils with a second equaliser for City seven minutes from time.

The result left City nine points behind Chelsea that beat Liverpool 2-1 earlier on Saturday, as Manuel Pellegrini’s side have now won just one match in its last six matches in all competitions.
