Four Zamfara government officials defect to PDP

Gusau. Zamfara- Four Top gAPC_Logoovernment of officials in Zamfara state, northern Nigeria, have resigned their appointments within the last few weeks due to party affiliations, as they seek comfort with the ruling political party PDP.

Commissioner for Agriculture, Alhaji Malami Yandoto, a crony of the Zamfara state governor, Abdulaziz Yari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) announced his resignation from the cabinet in a letter addressed to the Secretary to the State Government on May 21.

Three directors who also resigned their appointments for political reason are  administration in Zamfara are gradually resigning their appointments and leaving the party include an official at the Governor’s Office, Alhaji Mustapha Bukkuyum;  Alhaji Shehu Yanware of the Directorate of Inter-Party Relations and Alhaji Haruna Jangebe of the Directorate of Non-Governmental Organisations.

Yandoto announced his resignation and declared  plans to defect to the ruling PDP, in a  broadcast  on a local radio station in Gusau.

Addressing his supporters at his home in Tsafe on Saturday, Yandoto said he could no longer work with the government.

The interim Caretaker Chairman of the PDP in the state, Alhaji Adamu Danja, said the party had “happily received the new members”.

“We are also discussing with more top government functionaries in the state, because many more are willing to join us since they have faith in our party,” he said.

Danja explained that very soon all those who decamped and their supporters would be formally received at a grand reception in the state.

Reacting to the situation, the APC spokesman in the state, Alhaji Sani Gwamna, told NAN that the party was unshaken by the actions of the defectors.

He said that those who left would soon realise their mistakes and return to the APC.
