Dolphins today defeated Lobi Stars 3-1 in the only Nigeria Premier League match completed today, with Heartland’s match at Bayelsa United suspended and that between Giwa FC and Nembe City not holding.

In Port-Harcourt, Ifeanyi Egwim scored early in each half to put Dolphins in a commanding position against Lobi, before adding a third late in the second half to complete his hattrick.

There however was still time for Eche Idakwo to score a stoppage time consolation for Lobi as the matchday 17 encounter ended 3-1 in favour of Dolphins.

Pending the results of matches played on Sunday, the win moves Dolphins up to fifth place with 24 points, a point and a place behind Lobi Stars on the league table.

In Benin, Heartland led 4-2 away at Bayelsa United when the match was suspended in the second half due to heavy rain at the match venue which left playing conditions untenable.

The remaining 17 minutes of the match will now be played on Sunday from Noon according to a statement by the League Managememt Company this evening.

Another statement from the LMC concerning the match between Giwa FC and Nembe City awarded a walk-over in favour of Giwa FC after the Nembe team failed to show up before the ”mandatory waiting period” expired.

Nembe remain bottom with 14 points as a result while Giwa FC is expected to be awarded three points and a 3-0 win, an outcome which would see the Jos club move up to sixth on the league table, behind Dolphins on goal difference.
