Chelsea coach Rui Faria has been handed a six-match stadium ban as well as a £30,000 fine by the English FA after he admited to two breaches of FA rules during the 2-1 home loss against Sunderland.

Faria can however appeal the ban, which will prevent him from being present at any of Chelsea’s remaining two league matches this season and the first four matches of next season.

The Portuguese was charged with using abusive and/or insulting words towards the fourth official as well as improper conduct after the match referee requested that he leave the technical area.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho on his part had denied an FA charge levelled against him, after sarcastically congratulating referee Mike Dean and referee’s association boss Mike Riley after the match against Sunderland.

The club’s Brazilian midfielder Ramires has recently also been charged by the FA and is serving a four-match ban given him.

Chelsea next play relegation threatened Norwich City in the Premier League, with the Blues needing a win to remain in contention for the league title while Norwich need the points to keep alive hopes of escaping relegation from the top flight.
