A 35-year-old banker with FCMB, Ilorin branch, Mrs Adebola Bakare, has been arraigned in an Ilorin Magistrates’ Court for cheating and criminal breach of trust.

The prosecutor, Insp. James Odaodu, told the court that one Mr Segun Oladipo wrote a petition against the accused on Oct. 24, 2011.

He said Oladipo alleged that the accused collected N1.5million from him for a business transaction which she failed to carry out.

According to the petition, the accused collected the money at the premises of the bank’s Muritala branch in Ilorin for a business that would have yielded profit the second day.

The prosecutor said Oladipo reported the matter to the police when the banker started avoiding him and making empty promises.

“She has been telling me contradicting stories, and even went ahead to threaten me,” he said.

He, however, prayed the court to assist in getting his money back.

The defence counsel, Mr Salman Jawondo, urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him file a motion to join another person as co-defendant in the matter.

The counsel to the complainant, Mr S.H. Shogo, did not oppose the application of the defence.

The Chief Magistrate, Nathaniel Ajide, adjourned the case till June 17 for further mention. (NAN)
