As the city of Port Harcourt witnessed an invasion of stars on Saturday 22 March where the traditional wedding of Paul Okoye (half of Psquare) and Anita Isama was held, the latest groom’s twin brother, Peter, has urged the couple to name their next child after him.

He explained that when he had his first child, Cameron, he named the boy ‘Nonso’, Paul’s native name in his honour. But when Paul and Anita had their son, Andre, they didn’t name him after him.

“I have to report Paul to everyone here openly. When Anita gives birth again especially if they have a boy, they must name him after me,” Peter told the bemused guests while on stage to speak.

The marriage ceremony, which was billed to start by 12 p.m, did not commence till around 2:45pm. But the state Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, who was one of the top dignitaries invited for the wedding, could not partake in the wedding ceremony due to the late commencement of the ceremony.

According to reports monitored via thenetng.com, the governor was said to have arrived the posh Aztech Arcum along Stadium Road, Port Harcourt venue of the ceremony at around 2 p.m and as he alighted from his vehicle, his aides informed him that the event had not started and neither the couple nor other invited celebrity guests had arrived.
“If we wait for some time and they don’t come, we will leave. I don’t have time for all this,” the Governor was quoted to have told his aides.

After a photo session before entering the hall, Amaechi was said to have waited for 30 minutes and when the couple did not arrive, he left the wedding venue. But the governor’s wife, Judith, and Chief Edem Duke, Minister for Tourism and Culture, were among top guests present almost till the end of the ceremony.

Meanwhile, the couple will go down in history as the first Nigerian musician to wed on live television. For hours, millions of viewers tuned in to Ayo Animashaun-owned Hip TV which acquired exclusive rights from the couple to transmit the traditional marriage live on their channel (324 on DSTV). The channel had earlier shown the pre-wedding shoot for the couple.
